This is the 4th year of the showcase home and the first that will be LEED certified. Over 30
manufacturers and distributors have partnered to create this unique, high performance executive
residence located in Sandy Springs. Some of the energy saving and green products to be
featured are geothermal heating and cooling provided by Water Furnace International combined

Insidesign, structural insulated sheathing and Dow moisture control materials for foundations
and exterior walls from Cosella Dorken, Cabinets from Timber Mountain, spray foam insulation

On April 22, EcoLumina builders – The Hoots Group – hosted two Earth Day celebration events
at the house. The first was a lunch and learn for the trade industry professionals including
builders, contractors, and individuals interested in sustainable building technologies. Sponsors
set up booths to demonstrate green products and educate builders and consumers about new
green technologies. That evening, The Hoots Group gave tours to consumers interested in gree n
building, home performance, sustainable living and explained how the whole house concept
worked.
One of the attendees commented that, “There was so much more than I expected, much more
green technology than we new existed.” Most of the builders in attendance agreed that they
learned a lot about green building technologies and a way to bring these valuable resources to
their building projects.
